Thursday 19th September: a coach trip to St Mary & St Blaise, Boxgrove and Chichester Cathedral. The coach will leave M20 J11 Stop 24 Service Station (charge for parking) at 8.15 and the Mercure Hotel Great Danes, Hollingbourne at 8.45.
The Priory church at Boxgrove was part of a Benedictine Priory until the Reformation. Some of the Priory is now in ruins but the original eastern quire, the original monastic church, is now the parish church and has a richly painted nave ceiling and glorious 16th century chantry chapel.
After our visit, we move onto Chichester for lunch followed by a tour of the Cathedral at 2.45. We will arrive back at approximately 6.00. Chichester Cathedral has much to offer including 38 medieval misericords, John Piper tapestries, Chagall window and Graham Sutherland painting and the pennant from the boat in which Sir Francis Chichester circumnavigated the world.
We have arranged pick ups at the places we used last year but if these prove difficult could you let us know and we will try to accommodate you. The cost of the outing is £25 which includes the cost of the coach and entry to St Mary & St Blaise and Chichester Cathedral.
